Nice announcement today (timed for SC11) of a project at the BSC to develop an ARM based supercomputer.

It was only a matter of time.
Last time around x86 won (remember the Alpha instruction set, Windows-NT and FX!32, and the day M$ pulled the plug .. ) largely because binary compatibility was so important. This time it's different ... there are huge and growing segment where the instruction set doesn't matter any more, or at least are outweighed by performance / power efficieny
Oh it's a happy day. I like ARM assembler. I hate x86 (sorry I*) assembler.
