If you love the DMV like I do, you'll appreciate this conversation:
"yeah, I bought this boat, but he didn't have any paperwork and the owner before that just died"
"no, he can't sign because he's dead"
"well surely there's any easier way ... I mean California is bankrupt .. I'm offering to pay you money to register this boat and you look like you need a job. Christmas is coming by the way"
...
Apparently the magic words are "statement of fact" and "I have my checkbook all ready"
I now own a sail-boat and have the stickers from the DMV to prove it :)
... sadly I'm not as good with fibre-glass as I am at sweet talking the DMV ... Boat to Float before the end of the year!!!
